Featured Friday Runner: Meet Mike

 Every runner has a story...

At Sexy Mother Runner we believe that sharing those stories is a great way to share the gift of running while motivating others. We have only had a few men share their story as our Featured Friday Runner so today I'm extra excited to introduce Mike! This man is so motivating. He has accomplished so much in the two years that he has been running. If you are not currently following his FB page, you need to!

Meet Mike:

I'm Mike, aka "Run Nerds Rock!" I have a wife and 3 beautiful daughters. My wife Melissa started running to get into shape and she was making me look bad so I decided to get off my butt and do something about it.

I got into running May 2011 because I wasn't happy with myself. My first run was on May 11, 2011 of 1.9 miles and I thought I was going to die. At that point the journey began. I started running as a way to get in shape and loose some weight. I lost 60 lbs and haven't looked back since. My highest weight was 235 lbs. I started running and eliminated pop from my diet completely. That was the only thing I changed. Took out the pop, and added running of course.

My God and my family are most important to me.  I try to get my runs in around family time. I either go real early or after the kids are in bed.

I completed my first Marathon April 2012 in St. Louis. In 2012 I completed 8 half marathons, 5 full marathons and 3 ultra marathons and have completed over 40 races since I started running coming up on 2 years May 11, 2011. I have met some awesome friends!!

I am very lucky to have such an amazing wife, family and friends that support my passion. It is something my wife and I both love and can share together. I completed my first 100 mile Ultra at the Indiana Trail 100 on April 20th, 2013. That's right, a 100 mile ultra marathon after less than 2 years of running. I have not missed a day of running outside at least 1 mile since November 23, 2011. "Keeping the Streak Alive, One Mile At A Time." I'm a Run Nerd!!

I have a dream to one day qualify and run The Boston Marathon. If you put your mind to something and try hard enough, anything is possible.  I decided to start a Facebook page in hopes to get others to run and get healthy by sharing running stories along the way while giving you useful information.  You can find me here https://www.facebook.com/runnerdsrock on Facebook or at http://www.runnerdsrock.blogspot.com/

If you would like to share your story with us, we would love to hear it!
